Description of collections: The Ardagh Diocesan Archives contain considerable collections of papers that formed the correspondence of bishops during the nineteenth century. The papers begin c.1820, being noticeably incomplete up to 1853. The episcopate of George Conroy is represented by a small collection. The largest collection is that of Bartholomew Woodlock, 1879-95. There is very little material either extant or available after 1927.
